Contributions to the Newsletter
Shipmates,
You have memories we would like to share and record for posterity. It would be good to expand the newsletter to include these memories, and how you felt, be they seatime action, in Division / Mess activity, the old drill ships, personalities gone but not forgotten (Like Doug 'Smudge' Smith and his Spot the cardboard seadog stunt), events like Lord Mayor's Show, Funny or Sad, historical information (Even from books or magazines - as long as you provide publication details for citation), or just plain memories or whimsical.
I am planning pieces on 'Shooting Weekends and Bisley'; Captain's Guard; Pre-Falklands Pirate Rig; Doing the Albert Hall; Jolly Jack and Jenny Japes; Characters of the RNVR (1859-2015...); and Boating on the Thames. While they are expected to be self contained it would be excellent to co-write with your input to these topics, or other topics you wish to suggest.
It has been suggested by our illustrious Secretary that it would be good to get longer serving member's memories of Churchill's Funeral 50 years ago in January 1965 when we had a representing contingent. For instance, did any of you watch the procession or march in the RNVR contingent or line the side on board HMS President?
And as we are in the 100 years since the First World War period you may have material on your bookshelf that we can use in an ongoing series.
The newsletter is YOURS not the Committee's so shove your oar in and sent offers to the Editor, or via the Contact page.
